Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic and the ensuing closures of schools, shutdown of restaurants and retail stores -- women have been disproportionately and negatively affected compared with men. Mothers of young children have left the labor force in record numbers -- leading to the lowest rate of women in the workforce since 1988. Women are also spending more time on homeschooling and household labor. Women of color have also been disproportionately affected as they were concentrated in jobs that require face-to-face interaction. This class is offered in partnership with Montclair State University.
