Join professional painter Anna Berlin to learn about the varied artists of the 20th century who helped make collage a fixed idea of the modern and experiment with their techniques in class. We will begin each two-hour class by looking at images of artworks and discussing them. There will be a collage assignment for each class that responds to the works and artists we shared. These assignments will also be possible to make with items you can find in your home – highlighting the adaptability and accessibility of the collage medium. Artists include Ellsworth Kelly, Ray Johnson, Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, Hannah Höch, Martha Rosler, Kara Walker, Mira Schor, Romare Bearden.
