A community celebration of Kwanzaa and a winter market with local businesses.
*Due to inclement weather the Kwanzaa Celebration and Ujamaa Winter Market and programs will be held inside the Library's first floor.
On Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Montclair Public Library will celebrate the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa with a festive community gathering. The event, which will be held at the Main Library, will feature traditional presentations from the community as well as live entertainment and programs which illustrate the historical elements of Kwanzaa. One such principle, cooperative economics, will be demonstrated during the Ujamaa Winter Market. The Market will feature vendors from Montclair as well as its surrounding communities, and provide event participants with an opportunity to learn about and support local businesses. Some of the participating businesses are The Little Scent Shoppe, Some Sisters, Grandma Emma’s Corp., Nitjuan Designs, MremboNYC, and Ahh-Land Woman Herbals.
Presented in conjunction with stewards of Montclair’s African-American community Latifah Jannah, Tiffany Barnes, Tinu Joseph, LaNa J. Jules, and Christine Smith.
