Through lecture and hands-on participation students will learn the basics of Bourbon Whiskey production. The class will cover the history of Bourbon, grain requirements/selection, grain mashing, yeast fundamentals, fermentation, distillation theory and practices, and barrel aging. Students will participate in mashing of a bourbon recipe and an actual bourbon distillation. Each student will partake in a handful of tastings and receive liquor to take home.
