Go native! Learn how to create an easy, affordable and pesticide-free backyard oasis with Master Gardener and conservationist Deb Ellis.
Whether you’re just starting to consider incorporating native plants and eliminating garden toxins, or your backyard is already a haven for our beautiful local ecosystem, the library is here to help! Master Gardener Deb Ellis of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey and another Montclair gardener will explain how to create your own paradise with native wildflowers and bushes, luring butterflies, insects and birds to your yard. She'll explain which plant combinations provide continuous blooms from spring to fall and growing tips for different soil and sun/shade conditions. Deb will also address how to deal with wanted and unwanted insect visitors to your oasis. A question and answer period will follow. Masks are strongly encouraged at all Library programs. Registration is required.
Deb Ellis is a Master Gardener. She is the founder and co-leader of the Essex County chapter of the Native Plant Society of New Jersey. When not organizing native plant events or giving talks, she is often found puttering in her own beloved garden full of natives and wildlife.
