In the “General Prologue” of The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer's “Doctour of Physic” cites his fonts of learning, and includes four Arab physicians: Jesu Haly (Ibn ‘Isa), Razi (Al-Razi, or Rhazes), Avycen (Ibn Sina, or Avicenna) and Averrois (Ibn Rushd, or Averroes)--to this day, Razi and the others are honored as the founders of modern medicine.
