The Montclair Public Library is running a Creative Writing Contest for patrons age 8 to 18! Submit your poetry or short stories now, and you might win a prize!
Rules:
1. Your short story must be your own original work. Only one entry per person per category.
2. Contest is for those entering 3rd grade – 12th grade. Prizes will be given out based on grade levels.
3. Your entry must be approved by a parent or guardian, which is stating it is your own work (no characters, settings, or plot elements from any existing material -- no fanfiction) and that no help was given (besides for proofreading assistance), as well as giving permission to publish your work in a digital or physical creative writing anthology, if we so choose.
4. Short story must be between 500-1000 words.
5. Poetry must be a minimum of 3 lines and maximum of 50 lines.
6. All work must be typed for entry as you want it to be published. All works should contain a title. Work may be edited for clarity or punctuation.
7. All work must adhere to the code of conduct for the Montclair Public Library.
8. Entries must be submitted by July 22, 2022.
This program is generously funded by the Montclair Public Library Foundation.
