The initial uproar over her design for the Vietnam Veterans War Memorial in Washington, D.C. brought Maya Lin fame when she was very young. Throughout her subsequent career she has produced works of a similar elegance and simplicity [it’s deceptive]. There are other memorials, buildings, museum installations, works of land art, and more, through which Maya Lin addresses major concerns of our time: the order and fragility of the natural world and the larger social struggles in this country.
