Carlos Fuentes (1928-2012) was one of the most prolific and captivating writers of twentieth-century Mexico. His fiction incorporated elements of mystery, politics, magic realism, religion, Mexican history and culture. In this course we will discuss Fuentes’ life and legacy in the context of analyzing one of his acclaimed short stories, ”Chac Mool”.
