"Hopeville takes 25 years of knowledge and footage and tells the true story of Literacy in America. The scientist have done the research and have proven what methods work using evidence-based practices. Yet, these practices are not found in 70% of classrooms in the United States. It's time we take that data, and implement life-changing policies in classrooms across America. This isn't a movie, this is a movement." Harvey Hubbell, Hopeville Director
Decoding Dyslexia-NJ and Montclair Public Library are proud to be a part the movement Harvey references in the making of this film. We invite you to come watch this inspiring and informative film which follows 3 elementary schools as they pilot the shift from balanced literacy reading instruction to evidenced-based, structured literacy instruction. In the rest of the film, hear from experts, educators, and parents tell their stories and show how they have been educating and advocating for years towards adoption and implementation of a structured literacy approach to teaching reading for ALL children. New Jersey needs to get on board and make the full shift to structured literacy instruction in all our schools.
This event will include a panel discussion, time for Q&A and snacks.
