Discover the ancient Japanese art of Ikebana, part of the Buddhist tradition from the Rokkakudo Temple in Kyoto. Learn to place fresh flowers into beautiful arrangements that brighten a room, please the eye and refresh the spirit. No previous experience is needed to incorporate peace, beauty and floral meditation into your summer decor.
Flowers are included. Come prepared with a low, wide dish that can hold 1-2 inches of water and a kenzan (pin holder) that is 3 inches wide. (Kenzans can be purchased the first night for $35.) Also bring a pair of ikebana scissors or regular gardening shears.
Class takes place at Montclair Tutoring Center, 119 Grove Street, in Montclair.
